1841 Census

In 1841, the Cowper family are living in Manor House. James Cowper was baptized James Cooper, son of James and Ann (nee Metcalfe), at Redmire on 29 January 1801. On 19th July 1829 he married Alice Hutchinson, the daughter of Anthony and Elizabeth (nee Horner). Alice was baptized 7 December 1806 in Redmire.

Joseph Cowper was baptized 15 February 1789 in Redmire, an elder brother of the above James. Joseph married Jane Dinsdale on 23 March 1811, and had two children: William, baptized 19 December 1813; and Isaac Dinsdale, baptized 7 May 1820. Jane died in 1822 and was buried in Redmire on 6 July 1822.

Joseph later remarried to Nancy, formerly the wife of Richard Waller. Nancy (Nanny) was born Nancy Pachard, and married Richard Waller 18 March 1817 in Aysgarth. For details on Thomas, see *.
