William was baptized in Redmire 28 March 1852, son of John Batty and Mary, nee Tate. He married Rebecca, but no marriage can be found in the Redmire registers--there is a marriage June quarter of 1878 in the Leyburn registration district, between William Batty and Rebecca Brown which is probably this couple. They can be seen on prior census returns in Redmire.

In loving memory of William Batty of Castle Bolton who died 21 March 1927 aged 74 years. Also Rebecca his wife who died 23 April 1917 aged 61 years. Also Frederick their son who died 7 July 1924 aged 34 years. Peace perfect peace.
