Redmire Land Tax Returns 1759 to 1837 This transcript was made from photocopies of the originals at the North Yorkshire County Record Office by David W.J. Stringer-Calvert. The missing returns are as follows: 1761-1768, 1770-1780, 1786, 1789, 1794, 1799, 1800, 1802-1804, 1806, 1808, 1813-1815, 1817, 1819, 1821, 1826, 1830 and 1832-1836. From 1759 to 1816 the returns are totally hand written, the pages being in good repair. From 1818 a printed form is used and from 1827 a different type of form. From 1800 entries in the sums assessed column are marked with an E where that entry occured in the sums assessed and exonerated column, otherwise the entry is from the non exonerated column. No entries were ever made in the columns marked for sums assessed on personal estates or for offices. Redmire in the North Riding of Yorkshire. An assessment made in pursuance of an act of Parliment passed in the 26 year of his Majesty's reign for granting an aid to his Majisty by a Land Tax to be raised on Great Britain for the service of the year 1787. An assessment made for granting an Aid to His Majesty by a LAND TAX, to be raised in Great Briatin, for the Service of the Year One Thousand Eight Hundred and Thirty-seven, in Pursuance of an Act passed in the Thirty-eighth Year of the Reign of his late Majesty Geo.
