Horner

1841 Census

The first Horner family is headed by John:

Name Age Occupation Birthplace
HORNER John 60 Leadminer Yks
HORNER Roger 25 Yks
HORNER Mary 20 Yks

John was baptized 26 January 1777, the son of Roger Horner and Mary, nee Horsefield. He married Elizabeth Storey, 21 October 1800, and had 8 children, including the Roger and Mary seen above. Roger was baptized 25 June 1815, and Mary 28 November 1819. This is the only time John appears on the census, as he was buried in Redmire 30 January 1844. His wife just Elizabeth just missed the census, as she was buried in Redmire 18 March 1841.

The next family is headed by John's brother, Roger:

Name Age Occupation Birthplace

Roger is another son of Roger Horner and Mary Horsefield, born 5 October 1783 and baptized 19 October. He married Mary Fawcett, parentage unknown. Their children shown here are Mary, baptized 25 September 1808 and Maria, baptized 18 October 1818.

  1. Mary Ann: baptized 7 January 1838
  2. Rachel: baptized 12 January 1840
